Photography Tours Inspired by the Natural World

Award-winning photographer, zoologist and author Will Gray leads immersive small-group photography tours, expeditions and workshops in Namibia, Costa Rica and the UK, helping photographers create more meaningful images while exploring remarkable wild places.

Meet Will

Photography has taken me from the deserts of Namibia to the rainforests of Costa Rica, from the mountains of New Zealand to some of Britain's most beautiful landscapes.

Along the way I've been fortunate to work as a professional photographer, zoologist, travel writer and author, contributing to publications including The Telegraph, Wanderlust and Travel Africa, writing over 10 books, including Photography Weekends Britain, and sharing my passion for wildlife and landscapes through talks and photography workshops.

Today, I lead a small number of carefully designed photography tours and workshops in places I know intimately. Whether you're joining me for a day in the Cotswolds or embarking on a three-week overseas expedition, my aim is always the same: to help you slow down, observe more carefully and create more meaningful photographs while enjoying unforgettable experiences in the natural world.

Cloud Forests of Costa Rica

Explore Costa Rica’s cooler highlands on a small-group wildlife photography expedition focused on the country's mist-shrouded cloud forests. A centre-based adventure, we'll take time to explore this rich habitat – home to hummingbirds, tanagers and resplendent quetzals – with rewarding bird photography and macro opportunities.

Featured Photography Workshops

Ideal for photographers wanting to improve their fieldcraft, composition and creative approach, I lead photography workshops and short breaks throughout Britain – from Cornwall and the Lake District to my base in the Cotswolds.

Far West Cornwall

Join me chasing the light across the breathtaking Penwith Peninsula. We'll be out from before dawn to after dusk, honing 'blue hour' photography techniques, as well as capturing dynamic winter light (and weather) at locations such as Porth Nanven, Botallack and St Michael's Mount.

Lake District Landscapes

Late autumn in the Lakes is a rewarding time of year, with rich colours, ever-changing light conditions and perhaps even a dusting of snow on the mountaintops. We'll be based in Great Langdale or Borrowdale, photographing from dawn to dusk and mastering light and composition.

It was a truly wonderful trip! An amazing variety of sights and experiences. Loads of photography opportunities and instruction. Varied and comfortable accommodation, plus good food and drink. A comfortable vehicle and a smoothly run operation. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Why travel with Will?

I lead every tour personally because I enjoy sharing not just photography, but the stories, wildlife and landscapes that make each destination special. Working with small groups means there's time to adapt to conditions, answer questions and help every photographer develop their own way of seeing.
